Senior Project Manager - Biology

POWER Engineers’ Environmental Division provides planning, permitting, engineering, site assessment and corrective action services to clients worldwide. Across multiple industries, our diverse staff specialize in the areas of air, water, waste, ecological, and cultural resources throughout our 45 offices located across the country and internationally.

We are seeking a Senior Project Manager for our Biology Group working in the Tulsa, Oklahoma area in support of our Environmental Division. The selected candidate would join a team of more than 230 environmental professionals across the U.S.

Roles and responsibilities

The Senior Project Manager will support and enhance environmental services focused on oil and gas projects, electric transmission lines, commercial development, public projects as well as other industry focus areas. The candidate should have an established and successful history of managing full scale infrastructure permitting projects and NEPA analyses with responsibilities that have included project scheduling, multi-discipline team coordination/oversight, project execution, and project-level financial management.

As a Senior Project Manager, you will oversee the preparation of proposals and cost estimates provided to clients to ensure proper scoping of services, availability of manpower and pricing to meet client goals. Additionally, the Senior Project Manager may aid with daily operations including staff training, safety oversight, quality assurance of services and work product, recruitment and hiring of key personnel to support the growth of the team, and adherence to company policies and procedures.

The person in this position needs to be detail-oriented, have demonstrated ability to work independently, and have effective personnel/project management, communication, and technical writing skills. The candidate must have the ability to supervise personnel, manage waters of the U.S. and threatened/endangered species studies, as well as the ability to conduct/manage other biological and stormwater field assessments. Experience with managing complex federal and state agency environmental permitting efforts is a must. The successful candidate may also be tasked with developing and expanding market segments through services, client management and business development, and technical oversight, as commensurate with experience.

Education/Experience Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Natural Resources, or other related field

  • Twelve (12) + years’ prior consulting work with a focus in environmental surveys, documentation, permitting, and client engagement

  • Experience managing staff, projecting workloads, and scheduling work

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality and professionalism

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Project Management experience on large multi-disciplinary projects

  • Substantial knowledge, hands-on experience with Clean Water Act (CWA) and Endangered Species Act (ESA) regulations in the central U.S. (e.g., OK, TX, KS, NM, AR). Work may also extend throughout other regions of the U.S.

  • Must be willing and able to travel throughout the region with potential travel throughout the U.S.

Specialty Experience / Certifications

  • Master’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or other related field

  • Certification or licensure in field of expertise. CWB, PWS, PMP or other professional designation preferred

  • Ability and experience in business development and market expansion in the central U.S. and gulf coast regions

  • Experience working with the USACE, USFWS, ODEQ, OCC, OK SHPO, TCEQ, RRC, THC, as well as other federal and state agencies strongly preferred
