Transmission Drafter

Roles and Responsibilities

POWER Engineers, Inc. seeks a full-time Drafter to work in our Toronto Transmission Department. The position will work with Engineers and Designers to develop utility construction packages from conception through construction. The candidate should be able to work in design teams, be self-motivated to perform assigned tasks, and take the initiative to learn new skills. Further, the candidate should be able to learn new software packages efficiently and retain and apply on-the-job training.

Required Education/Experience

  • A diploma in Engineering Design and Drafting Technology (Engineering Design Technology) Desired Education/Experience

  • Strong understanding of computer-aided design (CAD) software with emphasis on AutoCAD and MicroStation

  • Strong computer design skills, can learn new software efficiently and apply on-the-job training to project work.

  • Experience in Electric Office (EO), ProjectWise or SharePoint would be an asset but not required

  • Experience using the Microsoft Office software suite.

  • Ability to work in design teams, be self-motivated to perform assigned tasks, and take the initiative to learn the position.

  • The candidate must have strong written and oral communication skills in the English language to communicate effectively with internal team members and external client personnel.

  • Strong attention to detail to ensure quality products are provided to the client

  • Some travel may be required
