Distribution Drafter

POWER Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Distribution Drafter for the Power Delivery Distribution Department in our Syracuse, New York office. The position will work with designers and engineers to produce OH/UG Electrical Utility plan drawings using CAD and/or GIS software. The successful candidate will use knowledge of client and national electrical utility codes to complete construction drawings for turn-key design packages.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Coordinate and collaborate with designers and engineers to produce OH/UG utility plan drawings using CAD and/or GIS software

• Review drawings for consistency following current quality assurance processes and establishing new processes where none exist

• Conduct field surveys using digital collection instruments and take detailed sketches/notes to obtain required design data

• Draft detail specifications for distribution equipment while adhering to client design standards and industry codes

• Analyze NESC codes or utility design standards for application to design

Required Education/Experience

• Sufficient industry experience and the ability to demonstrate comprehension of the following CAD software platforms:

• AutoCAD

• AutoCAD Civil

• Ability to work with other designers and engineers in a team environment

• Strong written and oral communications skills

• Active learning and listening

• Outstanding time management skills

• Must be able to successfully pass client's background screening process

• Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record

Desired Education/Experience

• Associate degree in an accredited program

• Understanding of MicroStation

• Familiarity with Inventor and/or Solidworks

• Ability to travel for project meetings and field review
