Automated Utility Design™ Subject Matter Expert

POWER Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Subject Matter Expert in Automated Utility Design™ (AUD). This position will focus on helping POWER develop internal design tools, assist clients with configuration and implementation of their tools, and assist POWER in developing industry recognition of advanced design systems. While the primary focus is on developing our strength in AUD and supporting client adoption of AUD, other opportunities within power delivery may present themselves and we encourage active participation in developing them. Additionally, POWER sees significant value in marketing the advancements of innovative solutions and seeks an individual who will assist with the development of a strategic plan, client and prospect specific value propositions, develop white papers, industry publications and presentations, and be an active participate in SBS’s Peer Utility Group.

Roles and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing technical and financial aspects of AUD focused projects, managing and developing client relationships, and marketing POWER's services to existing and new clients. Other responsibilities/include, but are not limited to:

  • Adapt to and promote company culture and manage internal and external relationships

  • Provide internal training, mentoring, and leadership to junior team members as POWER begins using AUD internally

  • Assist in generating new work from utilities already using AUD

  • Assist with the development and implementation of AUD for utility clients

  • Help position POWER as a leading provider of advanced design solutions and tools

  • Assist with identifying and recruiting key individuals (internal and external) to strengthen the technical and management teams around AUD

  • Work with our production teams to identify workflow and design efficiencies

  • Investigate AUD implementation opportunities for existing clients and internal workflows

  • Investigate the ability to develop client specific AUD templates

  • Develop industry content in the form of technical publications and support of various marketing initiatives

  • Work with SBS to identify software advancement opportunities

  • Must understand distribution system design techniques and principles

  • Must have the ability to develop 2D and 3D CAD blocks

  • Must have the ability to develop standards based compatible units and the associated sub-assemblies

  • Must have the knowledge and experience to assist with integrations to AUD with various work management systems: SAP, Maximo, etc.

  • Must have the knowledge and experience to assist with integrations to AUD with GIS systems. Esri, Smallworld, etc.

  • Must have the ability to develop rules and analysis abilities within AUD

  • This position will require travel to client and internal meetings

Required Education/Experience

  • Associate degree or equivalent technical education

  • Five (5) + years’ progressive experience working with AUD in all aspects of the software: development, configuration, implementations, Utility DataHub™, design, and troubleshooting

  • Must have successful track record of leading project teams

  • Must have successful track record of interfacing with clients

  • Must have a good understanding of project management techniques and approaches, to applying project controls during project execution
