Entry-Level Geotechnical Engineer

POWER Engineers’ Environmental Division provides planning, permitting, engineering, site assessment and corrective action services to clients worldwide. Across multiple industries, our diverse staff specialize in the areas of air, water, waste, ecological and cultural resources throughout our 45 offices located across the country and internationally.

We are seeking a highly motivated, Entry-Level Geotechnical Engineer for full-time employment in our Boise, IDORRochester, NY office in support of our Environmental Geosciences Department. The selected candidates would join a team of more than 230 environmental professionals across the U.S.

Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities

This geotechnical engineer must be proficient in interpersonal communication skills that would allow the individual to work with other experienced engineers in a team environment. We are looking for an individual with knowledge in subsurface investigations, shallow and deep foundation evaluations and foundation design such as drilled piers, micropiles, driven piles, helical piles and caissons. Additionally, this geotechnical engineer must have knowledge of groundwater flow mechanics, artesian flow, slope stability evaluation and mitigation, settlement evaluation, and knowledge of environmental regulations.

Required Education/Experience

  • BSCE (with a geotechnical emphasis) from an accredited college or university. Candidates will also be considered if they have a good understanding of engineering properties of soils

  • EIT certification and eligibility to sit for the PE exam within four (4) years of employment

Desired Education/Experience

  • Strong background in computer modeling that may include LPILE, SHAFT, MFAD, CUFAD, SLOPE/W, Finite Element Modeling, GRLWEAP, SIGMA

  • Working knowledge of GIS and AutoCAD

  • Experience with the energy construction industry that involves a variety of surveillance and monitoring issues and adverse field conditions
