Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities

POWER Engineers is seeking a Drafter to work in the Power Delivery Substation Department in our Richmond, Virginia office. Flexibility is available for a hybrid work environment. Responsibilities

As a Drafter, you will share responsibility with the rest of the department to produce a product consistent with POWER's mission statement and our culture. You are expected to support the department in achieving the goals of the department, maintain POWER's high-quality standards, promote internal teamwork and meet the needs of our clients.

  • Perform the detailed drafting and design of low to extra high voltage substations including, but not limited to:

  • One-line diagrams

  • Three-line diagrams

  • Schematics

  • Wiring diagrams

  • Communications

  • Station physical layouts

  • Sections/Elevations

  • Cable and conduit plans and details

  • Ground grid design and details

  • Foundation plans and details

  • Structural plans and details

  • Control enclosure design and details

  • Lightning protection plans

  • Yard lighting plans

  • Support QA/QC for deliverables to clients.

  • Shall learn, understand, and adhere to client standards and processes while working individually or within a team to complete complex and technically challenging projects.

    Required Education/Experience

  • Associate degree, equivalent technical education, or sufficient industry experience.

  • Experience with AutoCAD (version 2016 or newer).

  • The candidate must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel.

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.

    Desired Education/Experience

  • 3+ years drafting experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.

  • Experience drafting in an engineering work environment.

  • Experience with MicroStation (V8 or newer).

  • Experience with Raster Design and/or Bentley Descartes.

  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Experience working with scaled drawings.

  • Experience with AutoCAD Inventor and AutoCAD Electrical a plus.

  • Working knowledge of substation electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, and/or substation physical/civil drawings is a plus.

  • Working knowledge of survey coordinate systems a plus.

  • Reliable, detail oriented self-starter who takes ownership of assigned tasks.
