Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities

POWER Engineers is currently seeking a Structural Engineer to work in the Power Delivery Substation Department in our Portland office located in Lake Oswego, Oregon. Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of structural design for substations including permitting support, preparation of structural drawings, steel and foundation design.

  • Development of structural construction specifications, cost estimates, engineering proposals, and project schedules.

  • Understand and incorporate typical structural codes requirements.

  • Preparation of calculation packages to satisfy client and jurisdictional requirements.

  • Support of substation physical design and equipment layout.

  • Occasional travel will be required.

    Required Education/Experience

  • BSCE (Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering) degree from an ABET accredited university.

  • Familiarity or experience in structural analysis, concrete design, steel design, soil mechanics, and foundation design.

  • The candidate must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel.

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.

    Desired Education/Experience

  • Ability to perform calculations to size steel members and concrete foundations.

  • RISA or STAAD structural analysis design software experience.

  • L-Pile foundation analysis software experience.

  • Engineer In Training (EIT/FE) registration is preferred.

  • One to three years of engineering design or drafting work experience, especially if related to civil engineering or construction, is desirable.
