Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities

POWER Engineers is currently seeking an AutoCAD Electrical designer to work in the Substation Department of the Power Delivery Division in our Portland, Oregon office. Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will support substation project work and will develop one line diagrams, three line diagrams, control house layouts, protection panel layouts, schematics, wiring diagrams, network and IRIG-B diagrams, cable schedules, material lists and calculations to support design.

  • The successful candidate shall be able to specify and select relevant substation equipment; contribute to substation equipment specifications, proposal development, and project scheduling.

  • Other duties include understanding and adhering to client drafting standards and working individually within a team to complete complex and technically challenging aspects of electric utility substation design.

Required Education/Experience

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent technical education.

  • Proficiency using AutoCAD Electrical Schematics and/or Promise.e design software.

  • Candidate must have experience with AutoCAD (version 2014 or newer) or MicroStation V8i.

  • Candidate must have understanding of control design.

  • Candidate must have electrical reasoning skills and attention to detail.

  • The candidate must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel.

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.

Desired Education/Experience

  • 3+ years' experience in electric utility substation design.

  • Familiarity with Raster Design and/or Bentley Descartes.

  • Ability to produce applicable drawings from rough sketches, notes, vendor drawings, and such.

  • Ability to select materials based on technical requirements.

  • Ability to generate material lists for equipment required for design and construction.
