Mid-Level Power Distribution Engineer
Summary of Roles and Responsibilities
POWER Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Mid-Level Distribution Engineer for the Power Delivery Distribution Department in St Louis, MO; and Overland Park, KS. The qualified candidate should be familiar with the design and operation of utility electrical systems so they can apply their knowledge in developing new designs. This will be a hybrid role, which means you’ll be able to work in a fun team-oriented office environment, as well as from the comfort of your own home. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Ability to apply engineering calculations to various project challenges to develop the most complete and competent design
· Perform quality reviews of project deliverables
· The ability to lead and direct a team of engineers, designers, and drafters
· Occasional travel should be expected
Required Education/Experience
· A Bachelor of Science in Engineering, from an ABET accredited university, preferably with a power option
· Four (4) + years of experience in the design and operation of overhead and underground distribution lines (4 kV through 35 kV)
· Experienced with utility standards, joint facilities design, compatible units, and construction package development
· Familiarity with distribution design software, both overhead and underground, the National Electric Safety Code, and electrical utility best practices
· Must have strong command of the English language and possess good written and oral communications skills
· Must be able to successfully pass client's background screening process
· Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Desired Education/Experience
· Professional Engineer (PE) License, or ability to obtain one
· A BSEE, BSEET, BSCE, or BSME degree, from an ABET accredited university, preferably with a power option
· Prior electrical utility experience
· Exposure to electrical utility design systems (GIS); GE Smallworld, ArcFM, AUD, etc.
· Exposure to work management programs such as Maximo, SAP, etc.
