Associate Project Manager

POWER Engineers, Inc. is currently seeking an Associate Project Manager to join the Power Delivery Program Services department in our Overland Park, KS office. This position will assist Project Managers in managing various types of transmission, substation and distribution projects.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the project planning and execution process including initiation, design, engineering, material procurement, construction, commissioning, and close out

  • Work with the Project Manager on project implementation including project schedule, project budget and the project resources including external vendors and contractors

  • Assist in metrics tracking, associated reporting to stakeholders, and compliance with regulatory, corporate and department procedures during all the phases of the project

  • Assist the project manager with miscellaneous related roles, but not limited to those listed above

Required Education/Experience

  • Equivalent industry-related experience is defined as three (3) + years of professional experience in engineering, construction, and/or electric power and communications industry

  • Knowledge and experience with project management processes and tools

  • General understanding of project lifecycles

The successful applicant must also demonstrate the following:

  • Excellent computer skills

  • Familiarity with various scheduling techniques

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively with competing priorities and stressful situations

  • Knowledge and experience with project management processes and tools

Desired Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent industry-related experience) from an accredited university – engineering, engineering management, or construction management disciplines

  • Three (3) + years of assistant project management experience

  • Experience in project scheduling, reporting and administration

  • Project Management Institute PMP certification
