Junior Automation & Controls Engineer/Specialist

POWER Engineers, Inc is seeking a Junior Automation & Controls Engineer/Specialist to work in our Facilities Controls Department in our Minneapolis, MN office.

Roles and Responsibilities

Perform the detailed design of ICS/SCADA Controls solutions including, but not limited to:

  • Designs control panels for industrial processes

  • Develops I/O Lists and I/O Wiring Diagrams

  • Contributes to the development of construction packages and specifications

  • Develops network diagrams and drawings

  • Program industrial Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs)

  • Assists application engineering for sensing and control, as well as installed system troubleshooting

  • Collaborates with other engineering colleagues on multi-discipline projects

  • Coordinates with project clients, equipment vendors, and contractors

  • Supports project start-up activities with field commissioning

  • Ability to learn quickly

Required Education/Experience

  • BS / MS in Engineering or Associates with relative working experience

  • Electrical Fundamentals of AC/DC Electricity

  • Networking Fundamentals

  • Microsoft Office and the associated applications (Word, Excel, OneNote, etc.)

Desired Education/Experience

  • Successful completion and passing of EIT exam

  • Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) programming experience.

  • Oracle, SQL, or other database program experience

  • Understanding of NEC and UL508a

  • Switchgear breaker control and power meter knowledge

  • Sanitary Design

  • Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) Programming

  • Experience with PLC hardware/software and configuration (Rockwell, Siemens, etc.)

  • Pump Operation and Fluid Dynamics

  • Server setup and deployment

  • Network Design and implementation

  • Industrial Managed Switch Programming

  • AutoCAD experience

  • REVIT experience

  • Working knowledge of One-line diagrams, Schematics, Wiring diagrams, Communications, Control enclosure design and details and Bills of Materials.

Salary DOE: The pay range for this position is $60K - $105K per year; however, base pay may be higher or lower depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This figure does not include additional compensation such as health benefits, vacation, 401k, etc.
