Environmental Specialist

POWER Engineers, Inc. is seeking an Environmental Specialist IV for ourHouston, TX office.We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented professional with strong communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills; strong organizational skills; and the ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, manage projects, and anticipate team needs.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will interact with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals throughout the firm who are focused on solving our client’s environmental challenges.

  • This Environmental Specialist will scope, manage and/or perform, and deliver project assignments, with the associated responsibility for meeting profitability, quality management, and safety goals.

    Required Education/Experience

  • BS in Geology, Biology, Environmental Science, or related field

  • Five (5) + years of professional environmental permitting and compliance experience

  • Experience with Clean Water Act permitting and compliance, especially industrial stormwater, wastewater, construction stormwater, or watershed health

  • Experience with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Section 404 jurisdictional water determinations, nationwide permitting, or individual permitting

  • Experience with Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) plan development and implementation

  • Experience with solid waste characterization, site controls, and compliance tasks

  • Familiarity with major health and safety regulations and safe work practices

  • Experience with development of scope, schedule, and budget, as well as financial performance tracking

  • Experience with regulatory agency interaction and coordination of permits

    Desired Education/Experience

  • Existing client and/or industry relationships to continue to develop new business

  • Prior consulting experience is a plus

  • Experience in the use of electronic reporting systems (CDX, STEERS, etc.) to prepare and submit permit applications and monitoring data is a plus

  • Experience with multi-media permitting and compliance, especially in multiple states is a plus

  • Experience with conducting compliance training for staff or client staff (stormwater, SPCC, etc.) is a plus

  • MS in Engineering, Geology, Biology or Environmental Science is a plus

  • Professional certification and training (Certified Wetland Scientist, Certified Floodplain Manager, Certified Stormwater Professional, MSHA Part 46, OSHA 10, etc.) is a plus

  • Participation in a professional association(s) is a plus
