Civil Designer
POWER Engineers is seeking a Civil Designer to join our growing Civil and Environmental Engineering Department. This position will be based in our Houston, TX office with the ability to work in a hybrid setting, a combination of home and office.
Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities
The Civil Designer will assist with development of project requirements that include Construction Specifications, Civil Construction Drawings, and Quantity Estimates. Civil Engineering projects typically assigned include grading, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control plans, access drive layout and profiling. Additional roles include permitting support and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans.
The position requires collaboration with the Engineering team to complete civil site development drawings for electrical utility substations and facilities, municipal storm and sanitary sewers, and site development.
Required Education/Experience
Associates degree in an applicable technical discipline or equivalent experience
AutoCAD/AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation V8i/InRoads/OpenRoads experience
Construction Specifications, Civil Construction Drawings, and Quantity Estimate
Willing and able to self-check own work for completeness and accuracy
The candidate must have a strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills to work effectively with other team members
Desired Education/Experience
One to two (1-2) years of technical design experience including civil site development design and drafting
Recent experience using MicroStation (V8 or newer) is a plus
Good background in mathematics
Working knowledge of survey coordinate systems is a plus
