Roles and Responsibilities

POWER Engineers, Inc. is seeking an Environmental Specialist for our West San Antonio, Texas office. The primary responsibilities of this position include the site inspection of multiple linear corridor construction projects for compliance with Project Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP).This position requires extensive travel (80%), with projects typically located within a 3- to 6-hour driving distance. Other tasks may include:

  • Assisting with the development of Project SWPPPs

  • Field reviews for structural controls

  • Wetland delineations and habitat assessments for listed species

We are seeking a motivated, self-sufficient, detail-oriented professional with strong communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills, as well as the ability to support the environmental team.

The successful candidate will interact with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals throughout the firm who are focused on solving our client’s environmental challenges. Candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with project staff, client representatives and resource agencies.

This Environmental Specialist will perform, and deliver project assignments, with the associated responsibility for meeting profitability, quality management, and safety goals.

Required Education/Experience

  • BS in Environmental Science or related field

  • One (1) to three (3) years professional environmental consulting experience

  • Familiarity with permitting and inspections under state implemented Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Programs for Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana and New Mexico

  • Ability to utilize computer software such as Google Earth, Microsoft products to include Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and Internet Explorer

  • Experience operating equipment such as GPS, laser range finders, cameras, etc.

  • Ability to travel extensively (80%)

Desired Education/Experience

  • Certified Erosion, Sediment & Stormwater Inspector (CESSWI) certification or a more advanced stormwater certification is preferred

  • Experience with wetland delineations and/or threatened/endangered species assessments is preferred

  • Experience conducting stormwater inspections and SWPPPs for linear projects is preferred
