Mid-Level Distribution Engineer
Summary of Roles and Responsibilities
POWER Engineers, Inc. is currently seeking a Mid-Level Distribution Engineer to join the Distribution Department in Ft Mill, SC. The qualified candidate should have previous exposure to electrical utility standards. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:
The ability to use common industry design software packages
Create designs for both overhead and underground distribution systems (4 kV to 35 kV)
Perform calculations, interpret codes and standards, create construction packages and perform quality control reviews
The candidate must be capable of working both independently and within a team framework, and will be expected to deal directly with clients
The ability to lead and direct a team of engineers, designers, and drafters
Some travel should be expected
Required Education/Experience
A Bachelor of Science Engineering degree, prior utility design experience, or distribution line construction
Four (4) + years of experience in designing and/or operating overhead and underground distribution lines (4 kV through 35 kV)
General construction knowledge and aptitude.
Familiarity with distribution design software, the National Electric Safety Code, and utility best practices
Experience preparing forestry trimming requests, facilitating permit and Right-of-Way acquisition, estimating costs, and customer advocacy such as, acquiring easements
Must be able to successfully pass client's background screening process
Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Must have a strong command of the English language and possess good written and oral communications skills.
Desired Education/Experience
Professional Engineer (PE) Certification, or ability to obtain one
Prior utility experience
Exposure to utility Geographical Information Systems (GIS) such as GE Smallworld, ArcFM, DDS, DM, etc.
AutoCAD, PLS-CADD and MicroStation experience
