Natural Resources Team Leader / Project Manager

POWER Engineers’ Environmental Division is seeking a highly motivated and experienced natural resources consultant to lead our Southeastern Natural Resources team within the Environmental Division. The successful candidate will possess strong regional client and regulatory relationships, have a portfolio of successfully managed and permitted projects in the energy, utility and water resources market sectors. They must have superior consulting, communication and leadership skills.

The position may reside in Georgia, Florida, or South Carolina.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementation of the overall strategic direction and management of natural resources services

  • Develop and expand market segments

  • Personnel resource management, training, recruiting, and developing employees

  • Technical oversight

  • Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget

  • Direct project assignments

  • Manage the quality of natural resource deliverables

  • Monitor quality standards and practices

  • Manage projects focused on transmission lines, renewable energy, oil and gas pipelines, environmental surveys, NEPA analyses and permitting services

  • Responsible for preparation of proposals and cost estimates

  • Support the Department Manager in the execution of the department annual business plan

  • Oversee and manage the success of the key department metrics

  • Be familiar with project risk(s), company risk polices and how to mitigate risk(s)

  • Lead safety efforts for team and ensure team follows safety rules and guidelines

  • Plan for and participate in business development activities to identify, develop, win, and execute project opportunities and build and maintain client relationships

  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills and the ability to lead by example

  • Ensure proper quality assurance and quality controls (QA/QC) for all services performed by the Department

Required Education/Experience

  • B.S. and/or M.S. in Biology, Ecology, or related field

  • Twelve (12) or more years’ experience in environmental/biological consulting in utility or energy industry, to include transmission, renewables, power generation and/or natural gas transmission experience

  • Experience managing staff, projecting workloads and scheduling work

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and commitment to quality and professionalism

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Experience with MS Project and document production software

  • Substantial knowledge and hands-on experience with Clean Water Act (CWA) and Endangered Species Act (ESA) regulations in the southeastern U.S. Work may also extend throughout other regions of the U.S.

  • A demonstrated technical competence and project experience in natural resource fields applicable to industrial siting and licensing or environmental permitting projects

  • History of managing the permitting for major infrastructure projects

  • Must be willing and able to travel throughout the region with potential travel throughout the U.S.
