Entry-Level Environmental Planner
POWER Engineers Environmental Division provides planning, permitting, engineering, site assessment, and corrective action services to clients worldwide.
We are growing our Fort Lauderdale office and seeking a highly motivated, Entry-Level Environmental Planner for full-time employment to support our Environmental Project Management/Planning Department. This position will report to the Fort Lauderdale, Florida office with the ability of a hybrid schedule of work from home and office.
The selected candidate would assist the Environmental Team with coordination, permitting and siting, and routing of electrical infrastructure and renewable energy projects in eastern and southeastern U.S.
Summary of Roles and Responsibilities
Function as a member of multi-disciplinary project teams
Perform specific, assigned tasks and receive direct supervision from project technical leads and/or project managers and coordinators
Assist with energy infrastructure siting and routing studies
Assist with multiple projects at various stages, disciplines, and locations
Assist in preparation and technical writing of environmental planning and analysis documents
Assist in the preparation of Clean Water Act Permits, Section 401 and 404, or other permit applications
Assist with local zoning or permit applications
Research local, state, and federal permitting requirements
Assist senior staff in field reviews and investigations to determine suitable project site locations
Attend and participate in open house and public meeting environments
Interface with internal Project Managers, staff, clients, and sub-contractors
Performs other duties as assigned
Required Education/Experience
This position requires a BS degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, or related degree
Zero to three (0-3) years of experience
Knowledge and interest in federal, state, and local environmental policy and regulation
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team and collaborative environment
Ability to travel, up to 30% of the time
Computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office suite of programs (MS Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Self-starter willing to tackle a variety of tasks simultaneously
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Desired Education/Experience
MS in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, or related degree
Experience in one or more of the following areas is a plus: electric transmission lines, substations, fiber optic lines, renewable power generation facilities, and/or natural gas pipelines
Experience in proposal writing and presentations is a plus
Knowledge and experience with Arc GIS is a plus
