Distribution Designer

POWER Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Distribution Designer for the Power Delivery Distribution Department in our Fort Lauderdale, Florida office.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • The qualified candidate should be familiar with the basic concepts of utility electrical systems and can apply their knowledge for developing new distribution overhead and underground designs

  • Compilation of design packages for construction

  • Perform quality reviews of project deliverables

Required Education/Experience

  • Two-year Associate degree in an applicable technical discipline or equivalent experience

  • Taken and passed Electrical and/or Power courses in school

  • Minimum of 0-2 years of design experience

  • Basic AutoCAD knowledge

  • Must be able to successfully pass client's background screening process

  • Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record

Desired Education/Experience

  • Familiar with concepts learned in school about the design, operation, construction, and maintenance of overhead and underground distribution lines (4 kV through 35 kV) and its equipment

  • Ability to work in design teams, be self-motivated to perform assigned tasks, and take the initiative to learn the trade

  • Ability to learn utility standards, the ability to use design software packages, and general construction knowledge and aptitude

  • Strong computer design skills, the ability to learn new software packages efficiently, and retain and apply on the job training

  • Must have strong command of the English language and possess good written and oral communications skills

  • Some travel should be expected
