Environmental Project Manager

POWER Engineers’ Environmental Division provides planning, permitting, engineering, site assessment, and corrective action services to clients worldwide. Across multiple industries, our diverse staff specializes in the areas of air, water, waste, environmental planning, ecological and cultural resources throughout our 45+ offices located across the country and internationally.

We are seeking an Environmental Project Manager for our Eastern Environmental Services PM Group and to join our 250 + person environmental team. This position will be based out of our Foxborough, MA office and will serve as staff dedicated to a leading New England utility company in Providence, RI. This is a full-time, salaried position that comes with a great benefits package.

Roles and Responsibilities

This person will implement the following duties:

  • Coordinate the overall environmental licensing & permitting process to obtain environmental permits in a timely manner to meet operations and construction schedules for new and existing facilities.

  • Develop and implement innovative environmental permitting strategies that maximize the opportunity for regulatory compliance while minimizing operating and capital costs.

  • Provide technical and regulatory guidance, support, and coaching to share knowledge and develop understanding of environmental requirements.

  • Manage consultants and contractors in securing necessary permits and approvals as well as during project monitoring to support construction activities.

  • Anticipate, track, and assess the impact of emerging environmental regulations so as to minimize the economic and operational impacts on facilities.

  • Monitor and analyze data to track environmental performance, and where necessary, conduct investigations to develop corrective actions for performance improvement.

  • Manage processes and programs to develop and submit all required compliance reports to applicable regulatory agencies.

  • Communicate with the media and other key stakeholders at hearings and public meetings.

  • Participate in field reviews, project compliance inspections, and site meetings.

  • Perform duties at client office located in Providence, RI.

    Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, Geography or related degree.

  • Minimum seven (7) years of professional experience conducting and/or overseeing environmental licensing and permitting in New England, preferably related to utility operations.

  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental policy and regulation in New England

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team and collaborative environment

  • Ability to travel, up to 25% of the time for site visits and client meetings

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of programs (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail

    Desired Education/Experience

  • An advanced graduate-level degree is a plus

  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental licensing & permitting regulations to facilitate utility infrastructure projects in Rhode Island

  • Experience with Rhode Island EFSB is a plus
