Project Accountant

POWER Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Project Accountant for our Power Delivery Project Services Group V department in Edmonton, Canada. The Project Accountant will interact productively with key project team members, under the direction of an Area Lead and Project Manager(s). This position will be based out of our Edmonton office with the ability to work a hybrid schedule (office/WFH).

Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities

The Project Accountant I (PMA) works closely with Project Managers in the financial management of projects. The ideal candidate has basic accounting knowledge and can interact with key members of the project team. Specifically, the PMA handles everything involving the financial side of the project including, project initiation, budgets, expenditure tracking, invoicing, status reports, management of unbilled costs, purchase requisitions, percent complete updates, accounts receivable, etc. The individual will also work with Project Managers on contracts, subcontracts, and change order documents.

Decision-making skills, the ability to work in a team environment, follow directions, attention to detail, and the ability to exercise good judgment are required to successfully handle these responsibilities. The individual should be a self-starter with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines, have a client service attitude, as well as strong organization, communication, and document coordination skills.

Required Education/Experience

  • Two (2) + years of related experience

  • A strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, and Excel is required

  • Strong communication and writing skills

  • Intermediate analytical skills

  • Willing to work both independently and as part of a team

Desired Education/Experience

  • A degree in business, accounting, or finance or equivalent industry-related experience

  • Working knowledge of an ERP system

  • Power Business Intelligence (BI) experience is desired

  • Knowledge of project contracts and change order documents
