POWER Engineers, Inc. is seeking a talented Civil or Electrical Engineer or Technologist to join our Power Distribution design team in our Edmonton, Alberta office. Under the guidance of multiple experienced engineers, the successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of utility distribution design. The position will involve developing new designs by applying knowledge of utility electrical systems and their operation, applying engineering calculations to various project challenges to develop complete and competent designs, compilation of design packages for construction, and performing quality review of project deliverables. Some travel may be required.
Technical college diploma (Civil/Electrical) or a university degree in Civil/Electrical Engineering
Ability to work in design teams, is self-motivated to perform assigned tasks, and take the initiative to learn the position
Experience using the Microsoft Office software suite
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills will be critical for successful completion of tasks
Exposure to utility standards, CSA, and an understanding of powerline construction techniques
Strong computer design skills, the ability to learn new software packages efficiently, and retain and apply on the job training
Prior distribution system industry experience is preferred
