Distribution Design/Engineering Lead

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Working with a team to complete detailed designs for overhead and underground distribution projects (up to 25kV), including primary line rebuilds, relocations and extensions, transformer installations

  • Coordinating work with project managers, schedulers, drafters and customers for various projects taking place throughout the City of Edmonton

  • Providing cost estimates to project managers, contractors, customers and accounting staff

  • Providing technical assistance to project managers, contractors, junior employees, field crews and customers for the purposes of conforming to the Canadian Electrical Code and Alberta Electrical Utility Codes

  • Assist in the quality review process of project deliverables

  • Network with clients and maintain client relationships

  • Some travel will be required

Education/Experience

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or a Technology Diploma in Civil or Electrical Engineering, additional engineering backgrounds will be considered

  • Five to ten (5-10) years’ experience in the design, operation, construction, and maintenance of overhead and underground distribution lines

  • Exposure to utility standards, CSA, and an understanding of powerline construction techniques

  • Ability to work in design teams, is self-motivated to perform assigned tasks, and take the initiative to learn the position

  • Experience using the Microsoft Office software suite

  • Managerial and leadership experience is considered an asset

  • Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or PLS CADD would be considered an asset
