Civil Engineer

POWER Engineers is currently seeking a mid-level Civil Engineer to join our team. Our group specializes in high-performing projects with a focus on the future in energy, utilities, and industrial facility design. Our goal is to deliver excellent projects together with a positive experience for our clients and our communities alike. You’ll be asked to help with grading and drainage design for new sites as well as provide utility delivery, access road design, permitting, and construction support. This position reports to our Columbus, OH office with the ability to work remotely from a mutually acceptable location.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Stormwater management calculations and modeling

  • Site layout, grading, and drainage designs and drawings

  • Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling

  • Prepare and review engineering deliverables in support of civil and environmental engineering projects:

  • AutoCAD/AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation

  • Project design criteria

  • Engineering drawings and specifications

  • Bill of materials

  • Construction specifications

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to others

  • Perform detailed engineering reviews of the work submitted by others

  • Coordinate regularly with the Project Engineer to ensure project scope, budget, and quality expectations are met

Required Education/Experience

  • BSCE (Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering) degree from an accredited university

  • Experience in site design for utilities, industrial facilities, municipal infrastructure, storm drainage and sanitary sewer design and analysis, grading, roadway and utility design, construction specification development, and development of construction bid packages

  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) registration is required

  • AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation experience

  • Stormwater management and hydraulic modeling software (Autodesk SSA, SWMM, HEC-RAS, etc.)

  • Five (5) or more years experience in civil site/design as outlined above

  • Good written and oral communication skills to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel

  • Experience using the Microsoft Office software suite

Desired Education/Experience

  • A Professional Engineering license (PE) is strongly preferred

  • Electric utility substation design experience is a plus

  • Managerial and leadership skills a plus
