POWER Engineers, Inc. - Information Technology End-User Computing Department has an immediate opening for an IT Security Engineer. The IT Security Engineer position is responsible for the planning, engineering, implementation, and monitoring of security services in support of the information security program. This individual will be part of a team that deploys and secures the technologies used in POWER Engineers systems, networks, applications, and resources. This position is also responsible for advising and cross-training fellow IT team members as it relates to security technologies, vulnerabilities, best practices, and controls. The candidate will lead efforts to collaborate and educate other POWER Engineers departments such as Infrastructure, Application Services, and the Service Desk to implement, support, troubleshoot, document, and monitor services.
This position is posted in Boise, Hailey, Houston and Orlando but, can work remotely from any location in the U.S. (Please note where you will be located in the application).
Planning, implementing, managing, monitoring, and upgrading security measures for the protection of the organizations data, systems, and networks.
Troubleshooting security and network problems.
Responding to all system and/or network security breaches.
Ensuring that the organization's data and infrastructure are protected by enabling the appropriate security controls.
Participating in the change management process.
Testing and identifying network and system vulnerabilities.
Daily administrative tasks, reporting and communication with the relevant departments in the organization.
Lead the development and implementation of security policies and procedures, control standards, and operational practices.
Define and lead programs that support the enterprise strategy and architecture for information security services, mechanisms, and safeguards.
Implement, engineer, and coordinate SIEM monitoring using endpoint protection, network, firewall, active directory environments.
Assess vulnerability scans and communicate threat and vulnerability observations clearly to leaders and subject matter experts.
Develop monthly security assessment reports for leadership and IT Governance detailing trends.
Lead security related incident and problem events.
Perform tier 3 support activities when needed.
Schedule and implement security changes to established technologies.
Provide technical expertise POWER’s IT organizational departments and assists them in the implementation of security technologies and application security. Works in conjunction with technical counterparts to remediate audit and security findings.
Lead security exception process.
Help develop communications and actively promote related campaigns for information security awareness among all staff.
Keep current on industry developments in business practice, technology, security issues and legislation that impact the company’s security policy.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical degree preferred.
2 years of work experience with incident detection, incident response and forensics.
Experience with Firewalls (functionality and maintenance), Office 365 Security, VSX and Endpoint Security.
Proficiency in Python, C++, Java, Go and/or Power Shell.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail with an analytical mind and outstanding problem-solving skills.
Great awareness of cybersecurity trends and hacking techniques.
2 to 3 years’ experience leading IT organizations through security certification compliance initiatives such as ISO27001 or SOC2.
2 to 3 years’ experience engineering IT security solutions such as Identity Management, End-Point Protection, SIEM, Data Classification and Rights Management, Encryption Solutions, and Data Loss Prevention.
5 to 7+ years of combined experience engineering security tools and implementing industry best practices.
2 to 3 years’ experience working in large-scale computing or infrastructure platforms, applications, automation, and security services implementations.
Demonstrated end-user computing or infrastructure support and administration experience: including configuration, procurement, installation, maintenance, upgrades, troubleshooting and lifecycle management.
Strong product, service, and vendor knowledge.
Knowledge of SLA, KPI’s, and forecasting (demand management).
Experience with system monitoring and automation within global environments.
Experience working with remote virtual teams.
Demonstrated leadership (vision and direction).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent teamwork and collaborative skills.
Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills.
Exceptional knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Specific Technology Expertise:
Identity and Access Management such as Azure Active Directory, ADFS, PIM.
End-Point Protection such as Sophos.
Vulnerability Management such as Rapid 7.
Data Loss Prevention such as Microsoft DLP.
High availability and Disaster Recovery practices and methodologies
Strong understanding of project management methodologies.
Excellent analytic, organization, presentation, and facilitation skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
Ability to interface with executive level management and give senior level presentations.
Self-directed, self-starter, and motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to travel.
- Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) certification preferred, but not required.
