Job Summary and Responsibilities
POWER Engineers, Inc. is seeking a project engineer in our Boise, ID office to work with our Government Services Continental US (CONUS) Department on engineering projects for our Government Services Business Unit. The position prefers candidates who are licensed professional engineers in the electrical, mechanical or controls disciplines.
This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to be part of a team engaged in engineering design projects in the Government market including mission critical infrastructure design to include power delivery, power generation, backup power, UPS, system studies, renewable energy, critical HVAC design, MEP design, and related projects.
Responsibilities include leading design teams and working with Project Managers on energy projects and the client relationships and marketing all POWER’s energy services to existing and new government clients. The Project Engineer will be challenged with managing smaller projects as the project manager. The successful candidate must have a deep technical engineering skill set and experience leading design teams and related projects with demonstrated skills related to electrical and or mechanical engineering including:
Leading and managing technical project teams
Engineering problem solving
Proposal writing and presentation
Understanding of Government Clients and Department of Defense Projects
Understanding of the Federal Contracting, including the Federal Acquisition Regulation
Budget and cost analysis
Candidates must have excellent oral and written communication skills, be willing to travel domestically and internationally, and must work successfully in a customer-focused, project-oriented environment.
BS degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Preferred)
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in engineering design development
Three (3) or more years’ experience managing engineering projects
Ability and willingness to travel up to 30% of the time
Three (3) or more years’ experience with government projects (preferred)
Experience managing government projects
Registered Professional Engineer
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI)
Ability and willingness to obtain a security clearance
Field experience working on a construction site or site related engineering O&M role
Experience with mission critical infrastructure projects including system studies, Industrial Controls and SCADA related projects
Experience with project management tools including but not limited, MS Project, Excel, Word, Power-Point, Deltek, and CRM software
Experience with using CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation
Experience with marketing, technical writing and business planning
