GIS Developer/Analyst

POWER Engineers, Inc. is seeking a GIS Developer for our Mapping & Analysis team to create and support tools used for data collection, analysis, and automation. Preference will be given to candidates that have experience as a GIS Analyst in environmental consulting. We are looking for experience programming in ESRI software in both the desktop and enterprise environments. Experience with iOS, Android, and Windows mobile platforms is preferred.

Roles and Responsibilities

Our GIS Developer/Analyst will do the following:

  • Work with the team to analyze, design, develop, deploy, and support web and mobile applications to meet business and technical requirements of the clients we serve

  • Interface with a diverse customer base to understand and document requirements, develop robust software/system designs, and construct innovative software/system solutions

  • Work collaboratively with the team to develop and continuously improve development processes, standards, and tools

  • Provide high quality and timely written and oral communications both internally and with clients

  • Desire to grow and innovate in a way that leads the company forward

  • Be willing and able to travel when required and to successfully engage at client sites

  • Provide technical support to end users (external clients and/or colleagues) through training, demonstrations, and documentation

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science, GIS, Information Systems, Computer Science or a similar degree that focuses on software development and/or GIS skills

  • Two (2) years’ experience developing in a variety of geospatial products including ArcServer, web mapping , mobile and desktop architectures using ESRI development environments, online tools such as ArcGIS Portal/Online, and mobile tools such as ESRI ArcPad, Survey 123, and ArcGIS Collector

  • Two (2) years’ experience as a GIS Analyst in the environmental or utility sector

  • Expertise in ESRI ArcServer system configuration, setup, maintenance, and development

  • Natural talent for software development, troubleshooting and maintenance

  • A solid understanding of software development methodologies

  • An ability to learn and apply new programming concepts and skills quickly

  • Excellent problem solving, time management and verbal/written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with external and internal clients of varying levels of computer literacy

  • DBMS experience especially pertaining to GIS applications

  • Experience interacting with project teams and clients

Desired Education/Experience

  • Experience with UAS data collection and processing

  • Basic database administration skills

  • Familiarity with mobile development in Android and iOS for GIS Applications, including offline packaging and syncing

  • Python development

  • Utility Industry knowledge

  • Knowledge of Location and Navigation Systems to integrate GPS devices and data with enterprise GIS

  • In depth understanding of web development concepts including HTML5, Javascript[CFE1] , Web Services development, and Web Application Frameworks (e.g. JQuery)

  • Ability to travel as needed for client meetings and business development (<20% of the time)
