POWER Engineers, Inc. is currently seeking a Junior Level Electrical Engineer to work in our Facilities Electrical Group in our Boise, Idaho location. In this role, you will work closely with Senior Engineers as part of a multi-discipline engineering team executing the electrical systems of a variety of projects with a primary focus on industrial projects. This position will entail creating and issuing construction drawings and specifications, studies and reports, as well as, being able to demonstrate good working design knowledge of low voltage power distribution systems (including switchboards, switchgear, motor control centers panelboards, and transformers), grounding, and lighting. Applicant must have knowledge and experience with the NEC, NFPA documents, ICC documents, UFC documents, energy codes, and applicable IEEE standards. Experience with modeling electrical systems and running power system studies using ETAP, PTW, or EasyPower is strongly preferred. Excellent communication skills, motivation, a positive attitude, and the ability to work on multiple projects concurrently will be core roles for this person. Some travel will be required.
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university with an emphasis in Power
2+ years of applicable experience in the design and specification of electrical building infrastructure including low voltage power distribution systems, lighting systems, and special systems for facilities
Ability to work with and be supported by senior engineers for guidance
Solid foundation of design and drafting utilizing AutoCAD and/or REVIT
Effective in prioritizing and setting deadlines, while also adapting to change
Excellent oral and written communication skills with cross-disciplinary team members
Valid Driver’s License
Building construction or consulting experience
Autodesk REVIT experience
Preference is given to applicants who have taken power system courses covering topics such as three-phase power, power electronics, standby power systems, and rotating machines
Preference is given to applicants who have the desire to become a registered Professional Engineer.
