POWER Engineers is currently seeking a talented Computer Science student for a summer internship. Under the guidance of a highly skilled engineering team, the successful candidate will learn how to develop a network discovery tool that leverages open source applications in a Linux or Windows environment.
This will be a great opportunity for a self-motivated student interested in cybersecurity and IOT to learn more about POWER’s Protection and Controls services. Potential for long-term, part-time employment as well as full-time after graduation. Flexible work environment (hybrid between home/university/POWER Engineers’ Systems Lab located in Meridian, Idaho)
Pursuit of a degree in the field of computer science, information science, or related technical field from an accredited university
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
Attention to detail and ability to thoroughly think through problems
U.S. Citizenship required for federally funded project work
Minimum GPA of 3.0
Prior internship and/or related cybersecurity background is highly desired
Understanding of basic ethernet network topologies (ring, star, hybrid, etc.)
Proficiency in Linux scripting and coding in Java and C – this will be simple order of operations scripting and operator interface coding.
Proficiency in Windows scripting or coding to automate tasks – open to a wide variety of options from VBA to Perl
Understanding of Windows domain configuration
Experience with server virtualization using VMWare
