Benefits Analyst / Benefits Accounting

POWER Engineers, Inc. is currently looking for a Benefits Analyst/Benefits Accounting individual.The Benefit Analyst / Benefit Accounting position is responsible for the data gathering for all benefit programs to support and align with business objectives and strategy. This role assists in designing, implementing and monitoring the performance of the company's benefits programs, including but not limited to, group health insurance, disability insurance, life insurance, employee assistance, the 401 (k) Plan and other related benefit offerings of the company. This position will perform the accounting functions of the department to include account reconciliations, affordable care act reporting and monitoring of newly eligible employees, VEBA Trust monitoring, payment of various Health and Welfare vendor invoices related to the department, and play a key role in the annual preparation of the Benefit Plan 5500’s, 990 and 990T tax returns, and other related required governmental filings and payments.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform monthly analysis on costs and related funding of the existing benefit program offerings. (20%)

  • Provide analytical data for Plan modifications, pricing recommendations, alternative or additional plans offered to employees by the company. Monthly report of financial position of the Plans and monthly monitoring for areas of concern. (20%)

  • Monthly reconciliation of all general ledger accounts associated with the financial aspects of the Benefit Plans. Monitor and review for accuracy the monthly invoices and transfer of funds related to the operations of the various benefit programs. VEBA Trusted and 401 (k) fundings. (20%)

  • Affordable Care act reporting and compliance with all regulations related to the act. Monitor for newly eligible employees, transitional employees (timely gain or loss of coverage), proper data submission to the ACA reporting tool, and timely and accurate annual production and delivery of the government required notices. (15%)

  • Annually work with the external auditors and related vendors and third party administrators of the Benefit programs with the work culminating in the filing of the annual 5500’s, 990 and 990T returns and the associated financial statements for the Plans. VEBA Trusted- Self Funded Group Health Plans and Defined Contribution 401 (k) Plans.(15%)

  • Develop and maintain eligibility and distribution reports associated with the company’s non-standard, and non- qualified benefit offerings. (5%)

  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (5%)

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, business, management, finance, accounting or other related field or equivalent experience.

  • Five years of related experience in Benefits design, monitoring and financial reporting of performance and regulatory compliance to include experience with and around Self Insured Group Health Plans and Defined Contribution Plans.

  • Advanced skills in MS Excel and Microsoft Office.

  • Familiarity with reporting and working with Oracle HR, Oracle Advanced Benefits, ADP PayForce, ADP Vantage and their individual reporting software preferred.

  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently in a sometimes stressful fast paced dynamic work environment.
