Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities

POWER Engineers is currently seeking a Substation Physical Designer. This position is in the Power Delivery Substation Department of our Billings, Montana office. Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed design of medium to extra high voltage electrical utility substations.

  • Substation physical layouts, plans and section views; control house design and details; cable and conduit plans and details; ground grid design and details; specification and selection of substation equipment; writing of substation equipment specifications, proposal development, construction cost estimates, and project scheduling.

  • Occasional travel will be required.

Required Education/Experience

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent technical education.

  • Experience in substation design (preferably 15kV through 500kV).

  • Proficient with AutoCAD and MicroStation.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.

  • Candidate needs to live within a commutable distance of Billings, Montana.

  • The candidate must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel.

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.

Desired Education/Experience

  • 5 years experience in utility substation design as outlined above.
