Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities

POWER Engineers is currently seeking an experienced, energetic, self-starting team member with a strong civil engineering background to perform engineering design activities for electrical substations. This position is in the Substation Department of our Power Delivery Division in Billings, Montana.Responsibilities

  • Supporting or leading other engineers, designers, and drafters - and self-performing - all aspects of civil design, physical design within a substation, including permitting support, site layout, grading design, stormwater analysis, survey coordination, civil construction inspection, general arrangements, elevations, grounding, conduit, structure details, foundation details, miscellaneous details and bills of materials. Also support or lead the electrical design within a substation and coordinate between design disciplines to ensure a complete and quality package is produced.

  • Development of civil construction specifications, cost estimates, engineering proposals, and project schedules.

  • Client interface and coordination.

  • Preparation of calculation packages to satisfy client and code requirements.

  • Occasional travel will be required.

Required Education/Experience

  • BSCE (Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering) degree from an accredited college.

  • Professional Engineering license (PE) or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire date and ability to obtain licensure in multiple states

  • 8 + years civil design experience.

  • 6 + years of experience in the Substation Industry.

  • AutoCAD 2015.

  • Mechanical reasoning skills and attention to detail.

  • Experience with structural steel and concrete design.

  • The candidate must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel.

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.

Desired Education/Experience

  • MicroStation Inroads design experience.

  • Competent in performing basic calculations to size culverts, ditches, and retention/detention facilities using stormwater modeling software.

  • Experience with RISA, MatchCAD, LPile, and Civil 3D are beneficial.

  • Ability to successfully participate in multiple projects concurrently and manage budgets and schedules.
