Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities

POWER Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Staff Environmental Engineer/Scientist for our Austin South, TX office. We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented professional with strong communication, interpersonal and analytical skills; strong organizational skills; and the ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and anticipate client and team needs.

The successful candidate will interact with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals throughout the firm who are focused on solving our client’s multimedia environmental challenges. The Staff Environmental Engineer / Scientist will contribute technically in the areas of environmental compliance including, but not limited to Environmental permitting; Environmental audits; Stormwater and wastewater plans; supporting additional environmental multimedia regulatory initiatives in support of industrial and public client objectives.

This position will manage all sizes of tasks and small to medium projects/proposals with minimal supervision from senior staff and principals, in addition to the following duties and responsiblities:

  • Perform preliminary desktop reviews for projects to establish constraints to construction and permitting

  • Prepare letter reports, compliance documents or other project deliverables

  • Communicate effectively and professionallywith project staff, clients, resource agencies and sub-consultants concerning project purpose

  • Communicate scientific, technical, and/or regulatory information through oral briefings and written documents

  • Prepare or modify standard operating procedures for plant personnel responsible for environmental compliance

  • Identify applicable environmental regulations for industrial sources

  • Analyze the impact of a new or proposed regulation for a particular industry

  • Travel in and out of state up to 25% of the time

  • Perform a variety of environmental tasks related to assisting clients’ compliance with local, state or federal regulations

The successful candidate is expected to work on and manage a variety of elements of simple to complex multimedia projects including performing related agency permitting support.

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or related engineering field, Geology or related technical field

  • Five to Seven (5-7) + years of work-related experience. Specific experience should include:

  • Interpret stormwater and wastewater regulations and apply to project needs including plan or permit preparation

  • Correspondence with clients, federal, state, and local regulatory authorities

  • Proven communication skills (verbal, written, proposal and presentation)

  • Working experience within the oil and gas, municipal, and aggregate sectors is a plus.

  • Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure Plans

  • Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments

  • Understands Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) compliance requirements for generators of solid and hazardous waste

  • Experience with preparation of industrial wastewater permits and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans,

  • Experience with state risk-based environmental cleanup programs including TRRP and Louisiana RECAP

  • Experience with performing multi-media audits

  • Experience with environmental sampling of soil, surface water, and groundwater

Desired Education/Experience

  • Master's degree in Environmental Engineering or related engineering field, Geology or related technical field
