Project Manager / Project Engineer – Chemical Department Manager

POWER Engineers, Inc - Facilities Division Chemical Business Unit is growing and we are seeking a Department Manager for our Project Management, Project Engineering Department. You will work closely with our talented Chemical Technology Solutions Engineering team, clients, and division leadership. You will work in one of our Boise, ID; Minneapolis, MN; Houston, TX, Austin, TX or Atlanta, GA offices and have the flexibility to split your time between our office and your home. Roles and Responsibilities

Department Managers at POWER are responsible for developing annual strategic plans, working with bi-annual personnel appraisals, and developing short- and long-term initiatives.You will have the responsibility for supporting the day-to-day activities of the Department to produce a product consistent with POWER’s mission statement and our culture. The DM is expected to oversee the Department’s Project Managers and Project Engineers support the achievement of the Department’s business planning goals while promoting and instilling POWER’s high-quality standards and strengthening internal teamwork and technical understanding to meet the needs of our clients.

You'll get to develop and grow our internal team, industry connections, and clients through sales, professional organizations, conferences, tradeshows, presentations, thought leadership, and knowledge transfer.

The DM will be responsible for developing a consistent approach of meeting with their team to lead, inform, discuss, and plan for the below requirements:

· Maintain and grow Facilities Project Management staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting and training employees; maintain a safe and secure work environment; develop personal growth opportunities

· Accomplish successful staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring and appraising job results; coaching, counseling and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating and enforcing systems, policies and procedures

· Develop and implement an annual department business plan that supports the overall vision of the Facilities Division

· Identify continuous improvement opportunities for the processes, standards and procedures that the department members perform

· Act as the project manager on the most complex and risky projects for the division

· Develop Business for the division and manage the BD efforts of the department

· Consistently grow the capability of the department to ensure that it can support all of the projects that the Facilities Division pursues

Required Education/Experience

· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited University in engineering

· Equivalent industry-related experience is defined as ten (7) + years of professional experience in the chemical markets

· Three (3) + years of relevant Project Management experience

· Two (2) + years of experience managing multiple people on a project team or in a department

· Relevant experience includes project management, and/or project lead engineering experience on medium to large/complex projects

· Must have initiative and the ability to work with a minimal amount of guidance

· Sales, marketing, and business development experience

· Excellent communication skills required

· Proven client or customer interactions or experience

· Microsoft Office proficiency (Word/Excel/Outlook/Project)

· Ability to travel 20-50% within the United States

· Organizational Leadership / Communication Expertise

Desired Education/Experience

  • 3.2 GPA or higher from an accredited university

  • A&E Design Consulting

  • Network of potential clients for the Facilities division

  • Knowledge of chemical processes relating to the renewable & sustainable sectors

  • QA/QC Checking & Management experience

  • Familiarity with CII's FEP Project Life Cycle Model

  • Familiarity with PIP standards and specifications

· Your expanding team will be in 5 of our 11 Facilities Division offices (Minneapolis, MN; Boise, Idaho; Appleton, WI; St. Louis, MO; Houston, TX, Austin, TX and Kansas City, KS)

· Your staff of 5 Project Managers & Project Engineers will grow in both numbers and expertise under your leadership.

· Our Facilities Division is a leader in the food & beverage, federal, consumer products, chemical & gas — including renewable natural gas — industries. Your focus will be in the Gas & Chemical business
