Mechanical Piping Stress Analysis Engineer

Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities :

POWER Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Piping Stress Analysis Engineer to work in our Generation Mechanical Department in our Atlanta, GA office. Projects range from new power plant detailed design to smaller consulting tasks and existing plant retrofits. This may include traditional fossil power plants, renewable, geothermal, and emerging technologies.

  • Perform piping stress analysis of critical steam piping systems and other high temperature piping systems

  • Complete piping evaluations in accordance with ASME 31.1 Code requirements

  • Specify locations and types of pipe supports and restraints for critical piping systems and other high temperature piping systems

  • Utilize and develop an understanding of industry codes and standard practices.

The position will include both office and remote work, with the proportion to be determined. Limited travel may be required.

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering

  • 5-15 years of professional experience including experience in performing piping stress analysis of critical steam piping systems and other high temperature piping systems

  • Experience using the CAESAR II software application for piping stress analysis

  • The candidate must have a strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel.

  • The candidate is legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.

Desired Education/Experience

  • Experience in the system engineering of critical steam piping for combined cycle power plants

  • Experience designing pipe supports and restraints

  • Experience calculating local stresses for welded pipe attachments used with pipe supports

  • Experience performing calculations to determine pipe sizes and evaluating equipment performance

  • Previous experience in the Power Generation industry
