Junior Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities:

POWER Engineers is currently seeking a Junior Level Engineer to develop their career as a Mechanical Engineer in the Generation Department in our Duluth, Georgia office. The position will involve both process engineering and pipe stress analysis for power generation facilities. Projects range from new power plant detailed design to small consulting tasks and existing plant retrofits. This may include traditional fossil power plants, geothermal, and emerging technologies.

With technical guidance from a senior level Mechanical Engineer, the successful candidate will be involved in supporting the following:

  • Contribute to engineering deliverable development such as drawings, reports, specifications, and studies.

  • Perform routine research and develop recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection.

  • Prepare basic engineering calculations following standard methods and principles used in similar engineering analysis.

  • Perform pipe stress analysis utilizing Caesar II software.

  • Utilize and develop an understanding of industry codes and standard practices.

    The position will include both office and remote work, with the proportion to be determined. Limited travel may be required.

    Required Education/Experience:

  • 0-5 years of previous engineering work experience.

  • BSME (Bachelor of Science Mechanical Engineering) degree from an accredited university.

  • The candidate must have a strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel.

  • The candidate is legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.

    Desired Education/Experience:

  • Minimum 3.0 Grade Point Average (GPA)

  • Engineer-In-Training registration is preferred

  • Ideal coursework includes: AutoCAD, thermodynamics, fluids, heat transfer

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills

  • Previous experience in the Power Generation industry
