Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities

POWER Engineers, Inc - Facilities Production Business Unit is growing and we are currently seeking a Process Department Manager / Sr. Engineer. In this role you will work closely with our Process Engineering team, internal and external clients and our Division Leadership to support our existing team to develop, train and succeed in both their careers & projects.

The location for this position is in Minneapolis, MN, Boise, ID, Plover, WI or Appleton, WI.

We keep all of our team, throughout the US, in one department. We do not have regional or other breakdowns purposely to foster best in class communications and support. Your team will be in 4 (Minneapolis, Boise, Appleton and Kansas City) of our 11 facilities offices, staff of 19 Engineers/Designers with opportunity to grow into more. POWER values face to face training and mentoring, so you get to travel to see your team as well as make presentations and attend conferences. The candidate should have strong management, Business Development, mentorship, recruiting connections, training and strategic planning abilities. Running a department is a challenging and rewarding experience. Developing annual strategic plans, working with bi-annual personnel appraisals and developing 1 - 5 year initiatives will be some of your leadership roles. You will be implementing the POWER Guidelines and Procedures for your Department.

This candidate needs to develop and grow both our internal team as well as our connection to the industry and our clients including: Sales, Professional Organizations, Conferences & Shows, Presentations, Thought Leadership and Knowledge Transfer. Our industries include Food & Beverage, Chemical and Gas (Renewable Natural Gas). It is essential that this candidate have a very strong understanding of engineering design production around design development, planning, standards, specifications, documentation, coordination, Implementation, CAD and BIM as well as Construction, Startup, commissioning, training and Pre-Construction. We follow CII’s FEP Project Life Cycle Model. You will need to be self-motivated, an excellent collaborator and someone that wants to take ownership of initiatives, including Business Development, to drive them to the next level. You will report to the Business Unit Director and be a peer leader with the other discipline department managers.

Required Education/Experience

  • 15 years relevant work experience in Process engineering (Food & beverage and Chemical experience)·

  • 5+ years management / leadership experience

  • Sales/marketing/Business development experience

  • Excellent communication skills required, with proven client or customer interactions or experience

  • Microsoft Office proficiency (Word/Excel/Outlook/Project)

  • QA/QC Checking & Management experience

  • Organizational Leadership / Communication Expertise

​Desired Education/Experience

  • BS in Chemical Engineering or similar

  • Minimum Undergraduate GPA from an accredited university, 3.2

  • Additional academic degrees a plus

  • A&E Design Consulting a plus

  • Natural Gas Processing experience a plus

  • Professional Registration, or ability to obtain it within 1 year of start

  • 2D & 3D Revit, AutoCAD and BIM general knowledge

  • Experience in design of agribusiness, food, beverage, industrial anaerobic WW digestion and personal care systems and facilities, including mechanical utilities, process equipment, mechanical conveying and pneumatic conveying systems is a definite plus
