Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities

POWER Engineers is currently seeking an electrical drafter/designer to work in the Substation Department of the Power Delivery Division in our Ann Arbor, Michigan office. Responsibilities

  • The position includes working individually within a team to complete complex and technically challenging aspects of electrical utility substation drafting and design.

  • Detail drafting, development of protection and control (P&C) logic, elementary drawings, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, physical layouts, general arrangements, conduit plans, grounding plans, material lists and other applicable drawings.

Required Education/Experience

  • Associate’s degree or other technical education.

  • Proficient with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.

  • Understanding of substation equipment and its function.

  • Excel and Word proficiency.

  • The candidate must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel.

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.

Desired Education/Experience

  • 5+ years experience in electric utility substation drafting and/or design.

  • Ability to produce applicable drawings from rough sketches, notes, vendor drawings, and such.

  • 3D CAD experience would be a plus.
