Entry Level Civil/Structural Transmission Line EngineerJob Summary of Roles and Responsibilities
POWER Engineers is currently seeking an entry level Transmission Line Engineer to work in the Power Delivery Overhead Transmission Line Department in our Ann Arbor, Michigan office.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of transmission line design for new lines, existing line relocations, circuit upgrades, and fiber optic additions including but not limited to:
Participate in a culture of detailed QAQC
Structure spotting/ T-Line modeling
Calculating and applying proper clearance criteria
Structural analysis of wood, steel and concrete structures
Preparation of structure loading calculations
Preparation of project specific Bill of Material
Preparation of construction documents
Foundation design
Electrical conductor and shieldwire selection
Review of contractor stringing/ construction plans
Required Education/Experience
BSCE (Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering) degree from an accredited university
Engineer In Training (EIT) registration is required
The candidate must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel
Experience using the Microsoft Office software suite
Candidate is interested in consulting engineering and the electric utility industry
Candidate is legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship
Desired Education/Experience
2.75 Grade Point Average (GPA) or higher
Ideal coursework includes structural analysis, concrete design, steel design, soil mechanics, foundation design and surveying
Design experience utilizing MFAD, L-PILE, PLS-CAD, RISA Suite is desirable.
Previous engineering design or drafting work experience, especially if related to civil and/or structural engineering, is desirable
