Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities

POWER Engineers Canada is currently seeking a Senior Civil Structural Designer to work in the Power Delivery Substation Department in our Airdrie, Alberta office. Responsibilities

  • The position involves drafting and design opportunities on substation projects that include civil site development and structural.

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for learning, understanding, and implementing CAD knowledge; learn client standards, practices, and procedures to ensure that work produced conforms to the client's standards and expectations; be responsible for knowing and following POWER's standards, procedures, and processes; collaborate on design issues; seek guidance from those with more experience; and mentor/direct those with less experience.

Required Education/Experience

  • Technology degree in Civil.

  • AutoCAD 2018 and Civil 3D experience.

  • The candidate must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with other team members.

Desired Education/Experience

  • 15+ years drafting experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D and MicroStation OpenRoads.

  • 3-D BIM Modeling and drawing production.

  • Structural design, drafting, and detailing of steel and concrete structures.

  • Ability to create grading plans and details from rough sketches, notes, and verbal instructions.

  • Site development experience, including erosion control design and site survey translation.
