Distribution Designer/Engineer

POWER Engineers, Inc. is seeking an experienced Distribution Designer/Engineer for our Airdrie, Alberta office.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Work with a team to complete detailed designs for overhead and underground distribution projects (up to 25kV), including primary line rebuilds, relocations and extensions, and transformer installations

  • Coordinate work with project managers, schedulers, drafters and customers for various projects throughout Alberta

  • Perform design reviews, estimating, tracking and reporting as required

  • Some travel will be required

Required Education/Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree or a Technology diploma in Civil or Electrical Engineering, additional engineering backgrounds will be considered

  • Five (5) + years of experience in the design of overhead and/or underground distribution lines

  • Must have exposure to utility standards, CSA codes, and an understanding of powerline construction techniques

  • Must have ability to work in design teams, be self-motivated to perform assigned tasks, and take the initiative to learn the position

  • Experience using the Microsoft Office software suite

Desired Education/Experience

  • Managerial and leadership experience

  • Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, PLS CADD, or CYM-CAP

  • Prior experience with Alberta Utilities

  • Prior experience with design-build projects
